Write a Book in a Day

Write a Book in a Day is a fund raising initiative where participants work in teams to create a written and illustrated book in twelve hours, while also raising funds for children’s hospitals Australia-wide. It was begun in 1985 by the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers' Centre, the oldest Writers' Centre of its kind in Australia. It is a wonderful, fun, team building and writing experience. Teams have twelve hours to plan, write, illustrate, print and bind a 2,000 - 4,000 word book. The creativity and collaborative spirit demonstrated by each of the students involved was very impressive and by the end of the day each team produced a high quality book. Year 9 named their book Squidnapped and Year 10, An Accidental Adventure.

The Year 10 An Accidental Adventure book placed third in NSW out of 200 teams and received a Commendation Award in the Best Book category. The funds raised through Write a Book in a Day will go towards childhood cancer research.

Congratulations to all students involved and we look forward to making this competition an annual event on the College calendar.
