Service Learning and Formation Programs

Students have the opportunity to take part in several service learning, formation and mentoring programs offered at the College. These programs are voluntary and provide an additional feature to our work over and above the experiences we provide for all of our students.

Vinnies SPARKS Homework Tutoring Program for Refugee Children

A very rewarding experience for both volunteers and the refugee children. A small group of Year 9 students travel to various primary schools to assist refugee children with their homework.

Jamieson House Visits

An opportunity to spend time interacting with the elderly in our local community. A small group of Year 9 students will travel to Jamieson House, an aged care facility, and play games and interact with the residents.

Mentoring - Big Sister (Year 7), Sisterhood (Year 8) and Step Up (Year 9)

Ex-students run a small group mentoring program based on the 'See, Judge, Act' methodology providing an opportunity for students to develop their values and faith by participating in activities and discussions that are relevant and applicable to them.

St Edmunds Social Justice and Disability Awareness (SOJAD) Program (Year 8)

An opportunity for students to experience and gain a better awareness and understanding of the social justice issues that surround people with disabilities..

St Edmunds Learning Partnership Program (Year 9 elective classes)

A great opportunity for students to continue our partnership and relationship with St Edmunds.

St Edmunds Mentoring Program (Year 10)

An opportunity for our students to mentor St Edmunds students developing authentic relationships with them and gain a better understanding of students living with disabilities.

Josephite Community Aid (JCA)

Over the last couple of years, we have developed a significant partnership with Josephite Community Aid (JCA), an organisation that provides support for disadvantaged families in particular, refugee and aslyum seekers.

The College offers our students many opportunities to be involved with their programs. In particular, we have and will continue to assist with the coordination of their Family Fun Day in the September holidays, Christmas Hamper Collection and Delivery and will continue to provide opportunities for our senior students to volunteer at one of their Family Weekend Away Camps. On a regular basis, students are also able to volunteer to assist with their Homework Tutoring program that takes place every Wednesday afternoon throughout the year.

CONNECT @ Lunch

Want something more out of lunch? CONNECT is an opportunity for some of our senior girls to come together and discuss topics that are engaging and relevant to them. These informal sessions have been really well-received and it allows students to reflect on what is important in their lives and how they respond to everyday challenges. Its casual atmosphere encourages girls to share their opinions and thoughts in a non-judgmental environment.

Connect Night (Year 12)

A fantastic evening for the Class of 2015. An opportunity to reflect on the experiences of high school and to treasure the many friendships that have been formed.
