New Principal Announcement       - Mount St Benedict College


On behalf of the College Board, Jacqui van de Velde-Gilbert, Board Chair, announced the appointment of Mr Michael Hanratty to the position of Principal of Mount St Benedict College from 2020.

Mr Hanratty has been working in Catholic education for thirty years and is recognised as a respected, innovative educator and school leader. He is currently the Foundation Principal at St Benedict’s Catholic College, Oran Park, a large school in the Wollongong Diocese.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr Hanratty’s career has included roles at St Mary’s Cathedral College - Sydney, Magdalene Catholic High School - Narellan, All Saints Catholic College - Casula, Freeman Catholic College - Bonnyrigg Heights and Marian College – Goulburn.

Mr Hanratty has served as a member of the Wollongong Diocesan School Council’s Planning and Infrastructure Committee since 2015.

Mr Hanratty has a deep commitment to the Benedictine tradition and is an active member of St Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Parramatta. Mr Hanratty holds a Masters in Education (Leadership), Bachelor of Arts, Diplomas in Teaching and Religious Education. He is a Member of the Australian College of Education and the Australian College of Educational Leaders. Additionally, he is an Accredited Coach (Growth Coaching International).

There will be formal opportunities to welcome Mr Hanratty as we work on a smooth transition in the leadership of the College.
