Future Problem Solvers off to Nationals

Four community problem solving teams have been invited to the National Finals in Victoria on Friday 14 to Sunday 16 October. The projects represent a range of initiatives that the girls themselves have developed. As part of the qualifying report the teams wrote a 1500 word report that explained their underlying problem and the solutions proposed to address the concern. The girls manage and lead the initiatives in a practical way that involves other students and teachers in the College. Voice of Choice, Social Media in Balance, Different Like Me and SKEPSIS groups are now implementing their action plans, making a difference in our community. Special mention to the Voice of Choice group who presented at the MSB Engage and Innovate Teachmeet to a number of educators. The girls were very confident and were praised for their assertive and interesting presentation that showcased our positive education program in action.

Proudly, two scenario performers both ranked second in their Divisions and have been invited to compete at the Nationals. Jaime Dunn in Year 10 performed a five minute story telling of her futuristic piece on the Global Workplace and Sophie Anderson wowed the judges with her performance on intellectual property. This places these girls second in FPS Australia in Story-telling.

Our youngest competitor ever, Madeleine Sylvester competed in the Middle Division Scenario Writing Competition with her story on disappearing languages and ranked second in FPS Australia. A wonderful achievement when pitched against gifted and talented students up to three years older.
