Achievements in Sport


Students continue to achieve success in their chosen sport:

 

Athletics

Our athletes excelled at the recent NSW CCC Athletics Championships. Special mention to Mikaela Quinlan from Year 7 who jumped 1.60m in the U13 to win the event by 7cm and establish a new PB. Other top three finishes were achieved by Jemma Gallagher Year 9 U14 2nd 800m, 3rd 1500, Capri Vidler Year 9 U15 2nd 1500m, Ellen Wearne Year 12 17+ 3rd Javelin and Amie Bowrey Year 8 U14 3rd Javelin.

These five were joined by Samantha Dale and Courtney Harkin to contest the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships with several attaining Top 10 placings and PBs. Special congratulations to Arnie Bowrey, 2nd U14 Javelin (photo top right).

Indoor Netball

Year 11 student Alyson McGrath is a member of the Australian U18 Ladies Indoor Netball team and competed at the recent World Cup Championships in Brisbane. The team won the 7's Championship and Alyson was awarded 'Player of the Final'. (photo top centre).

 

Track Cycling

Georgia Quick, Year 11, represented both NSW and Australia at the 2016 Oceania Track Cycling Championships in Invercargill, New Zealand. Georgia received the silver medal for Australia in the Team Sprint and for NSW, in the State vs State events, she received the silver in the 500m Time Trial with a PB and Bronze in both the Keiran and Individual Sprint events, with yet another PB in the Individual Sprint. Equestrian

Caitlin Brown, Year 10, competed in the Arndell Equestrian Interschool Carnival during Term Three with great success. Caitlin won five first places and was Reserve Champion. (photo bottom right)

Rachel Abood, Year 8, competed in her first equestrian event. Rachel and her horse Nibbles entered the Morisset Spring Horse Show, near Newcastle. Rachel achieved great results for her first competition coming away with three first places, one Grand Champion and one Reserve Champion. (photo bottom left)
